Recently the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) announced that they will begin the process of accepting a gender option other than male or female for MARSS reporting. This is a multi-year process, with the current year being a decision making year. At the current time, it is not expected to be included in reporting until the 2022-23 school year.
Region 1 is working with Edupoint on this change, but the rollout of the programming will depend on the acceptance of the new option for MARSS reporting by MDE. Until the reporting process allows the new option, you will only be able to select male or female for gender in Synergy. This is a restriction based on requirements by the State of Minnesota, not the functionality of Synergy itself. Once MARSS reporting allows the submission of the new option, Edupoint will push out the programming for Synergy with the new option available to select for gender on a student.
In the meantime, the Protected Identity options are still available. We will continue to keep you updated as new information is made available.
