** The Region 1 deadline for the August data is July 27For end of year MARSS reporting special education service hours (SESH) are required for specific students starting with the MARSS April submission. Knowing the SESH are not correct at that time we have told districts to report one hour for SESH to pass the edit. As you may be aware, several schools have experienced an outbreak of measles. Students who have not been vaccinated are at risk of contracting the disease, furthering the spread. The Minnesota Department of Health is working to stop the spread and in many cases that involves asking a family to keep exposed children home from day care and/or school if they have not been vaccinated. Reporting of Students Experiencing Homelessness and Economic Indicator

The homeless liaison is important to the MARSS Coordinator because they provide the necessary documentation for students experiencing homelessness. These students are categorically eligible to report as free meal --Economic Indicator 2 -- and are eligible for Title I services. They should be flagged as Homeless in the MARSS file. Without the written, signed and dated documentation, a student cannot be flagged as homeless in MARSS.
